Who makes MEDNIGHT possible

The project was created in 2020 and celebrates its fifth Mednight. The evolution, expansion and at the same time consolidation of the pillars of MEDNIGHT are being clear, with partners from eight different countries: Spain, Greece, Italy, France, Cyprus, Türkiye, Tunisia and Belgium. All together they give solidity to the brotherhood between Mediterranean countries around the culture of science, as opposed to the conflicts that occur in our Mediterranean

Many online and face-to-face diverse activities will be organised by MEDNIGHT consortium in Messina, Lesvos, Xanthi, Nicosia, Istanbul, Brussels, Monastir, Montpellier, Toulouse, Madrid, Almeria, Orihuela and Alicante (Main cities) but also Athens, Patras, Limnos, Rhodes, Syros, Eyupsultan, Kadikov, Guardamar, Torrevieja, Santa Pola, Nantes, Larnaca among others.

The MEDNIGHT team consists of Genopolys, mixed outreach centre of the French CNRS, INSERM and the University of Montpellier, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Toulouse (CHUT), the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), the ATHENA Information Technology Research Centre and SciCo in Greece, as well as SciCo Cyprus, the Monastir Science Palace in Tunisia, the European Women Rectors Association, the Kadir Has University in Istanbul, the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT), the Museo Didáctico Interactivo de Ciencias de la Vega Baja – Jesús Carnicer (MUDIC) and El Caleidoscopio in Spain, all of them coordinated by the University of Messina in Italy.

MEDNIGHT has the support and recognition of the Community of Mediterranean Universities (CMU) as well as the University of Montpellier, University Miguel Hernández, University of the Aegean, Istanbul Technical University and the Miguel Hernández and ITU ARI Technoparks, among others

Mednight has established links with other European Nights, such as Madridnight, Open Researchers, Connect and Science4future-II. We will mutually support the mentioned proposals and we commit to exchanging relevant information informed about the projects’ progress.

We count with MCAA chapters all over the Mediterranean and with several subsites of partner organizations, which gives the project an impressive geographical reach. In addition, municipalities of coastal cities will participate and help to carry out the proposed activities.

Non-profit organizations such as Eurorelief (Refugee Aid Group), Ecologistas en Acción, and other associations will collaborate with the involvement of different audiences in the activities. MEDNIGHT will have access to hospitals and care homes for the elderly where some activities will take place.
