La storia evolutiva dei Vertebrati è un viaggio lungo 500 milioni di anni, che ha visto la comparsa di animali preistorici (Dinosauri), tanti altri sconosciuti come Pikaia e Archaeopteryx fino ad arrivare alle specie attuali, alcune delle quali particolarmente evolute (Pletodontidi) ed altre che presentano caratteri di primitività risalenti ai loro progenitori ormai estinti (Ciclostomi).

I ricercatori mostrando modellini di Vertebrati, video e schemi interattivi, aiuteranno i visitatori a scoprire come sia cambiato il corpo dei Vertebrati in questo lunghissimo lasso di tempo, come si siano adattati ai diversi habitat e, se e come, siano imparentati tra loro.

Scoprire inoltre che alcuni animali mitologici (Unicorno, Sirene) siano stati ispirati da animali realmente esistenti potrebbe essere affascinante e stimolante per i partecipanti.
