Cereals, legumes, fish, fruit, vegetables and extra-virgin olive oil are the cornerstones of the Mediterranean diet. These foods, in addition to being balanced in their macro and micronutrient content, are characterized by a sensory profile that distinguishes them from the rest of the foods on our tables. Citrus fruits, typical fruits of the Mediterranean coastal areas, are rich in vitamin C and molecules with a high biological value. Numerous studies have shown that a daily consumption of this type of fruit can lead to proven beneficial effects on human health. Alongside these beneficial properties, Citrus fruits are also attributed with the production of very valuable essences (derived from the peel, flowers and leaves), widely used both in the food industry and above all in the cosmetics industry.
