For the second consecutive year, CEU Cardenal Herrera University has hosted the “Creators of Knowledge” Research and Science Communication Fair. Aimed at inspiring interest in research, more than a hundred university students from various degree programs and 4th-year secondary school students from Valencian schools explored the scientific work of 65 research groups at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (CEU UCH) through informational stands set up in the University’s Auditorium.
Lead researchers from each group, along with young researchers in training and PhD candidates, engaged with the attending students, explaining their scientific work and the equipment they use, encouraging them to get involved in research activities as undergraduate collaborators. Representatives from the University’s Research Chairs and Institutes, the Ethics Committees of the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Knowledge Transfer, and the CEU International Doctoral School (CEINDO) were also present to answer questions from students interested in pursuing a scientific career.

Exhibition and Workshops for Pre-University Students
This year’s CEU UCH Science Fair also targeted pre-university students as part of the European Mednight project, which promotes science communication across eight Mediterranean countries. 4th-year secondary students from IES Ricardo Marín Ibáñez in Cheste and Cumbres School in Moncada visited the exhibition “The Marie Curies of the Mediterranean,” an initiative of the Mednight network that highlights female scientists and researchers from the Mediterranean region who have received the prestigious Marie Curie research fellowships from the European Union.
The students also participated in educational science workshops organized by CEU UCH researchers: a movement workshop using virtual reality glasses led by the “Lifestyle and Health” Research Group; a cardiopulmonary resuscitation protocol workshop led by nursing faculty researchers; a workshop by the Capenergy Pelvic Floor Chair; and a board game workshop addressing antimicrobial resistance and the proper use of antibiotics, organized by the SWICEU team.
According to CEU UCH Vice-Rector for Research and Knowledge Transfer, Alicia López Castellano, “Seeing secondary and university students approach science with curiosity and enthusiasm is undoubtedly one of the greatest rewards of this fair. At CEU Cardenal Herrera University, we firmly believe that knowledge transforms lives, and that’s why we will continue to promote spaces like this, where a passion for research can be born, grow, and become a future.”
“Face to Face with Science”
The second CEU UCH Research and Science Communication Fair was inaugurated by Mariola Penadés, Director General of Research and Scientific Innovation at the Valencian Regional Ministry of Health, and Vice-Rector Alicia López. The event opened with scientific dialogues under the theme “Face to Face with Science.” Six researchers at various stages of their scientific careers shared their experiences in three dialogues moderated by Ana Peiró, Head of the Networks and Centers of Excellence Promotion Service at the Regional Ministry of Health.
In the first discussion, scientific activity in centers of excellence was analyzed by María Luisa Castaño, Scientific Advisor to the General Directorate of the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT), part of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and Mario Inclán, alumnus of the Marie S. Curie European Program (MSCA), senior researcher at the University of Valencia (UV), and associate professor at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (CEU UCH).
Research in the fields of Humanities and Communication Sciences was presented by predoctoral student Mercedes Blanes from CEINDO’s Department of Political Science, Ethics, and Sociology, and Enrique Anrubia, Director of the Humanities Department at CEU UCH. The final dialogue featured Director General Mariola Penadés and Vice-Rector Alicia López, discussing the support provided by both the administration and the university to researchers throughout their scientific careers.
