The Didactic and Interactive Science Museum (MUDIC) returned to Callosa de Segura in the months of April and May. On this occasion, its monitors visited the IES Santiago Grisolía to continue carrying out its offer of scientific workshops.

Electricity Workshop

On Monday, April 22, they held a workshop on the physical phenomenon of electricity aimed at 72 3rd year ESO students. In this STEM workshop, students experimented with static electricity and direct current through simple, easy-to-use materials. Some of them were soda cans, balloons, plasticine, light bulbs, batteries or cables. Throughout the activity, the concepts of charge, current, circuit and electricity are introduced. The workshop ended with the construction of a light card. During the session, these concepts were related to the responsible consumption of electricity and the effects of its production on the climate.

Lavoisier Workshop

The “Lavoisier” chemical reactions workshop was held on three occasions: on April 29 and on May 8 and 9. The activity impacted a total of 158 3rd and 4th ESO students. In the sessions, concepts such as chemical balance, the acid-base indicator, the characteristic properties of substances or the reaction speed were worked on. It is a workshop full of color, in which students are aware of and distinguish the chemical reactions that occur in their daily lives and the conditions that have to be met for them to occur. In this workshop, notions are given about the recycling of chemical products and their use in daily life such as domestic cleaning.

Geometry Workshop

On Monday, May 6, a workshop on “Plane and spatial geometry with a mirror book” was held. It was aimed at 82 2nd year ESO students. In the session, the students took a tour of the plane with the help of the mirror book. First, the polygonal shapes were presented. Next, symmetries and three-dimensional constructions were worked on.

Aromatic Plants Workshop

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the “Aromatic Plants” workshop was held, impacting 115 1st year ESO students. In this workshop they discovered different types of plants, investigating their composition and carrying out experiments in which their properties, characteristics and culinary and medicinal uses are revealed. They were aware of the importance of the conservation of forests and trees in relation to the environment.
