The main purpose of this project is to extend the comprehensive evaluation of health and frailty status among the elderly population even in the context of a peculiar close community, such as that of the Aeolian Archipelago. For each elderly participant, socio-demographic, anamnestic, and lifestyle habits information will be collected through the filling of self-report questionnaires.

The present project can contribute to the improvement of knowledges on the health status of aged individuals living in small insular communities, also allowing us to interpret whether living surrounded by the sea might represent a factor able to promote resilience, or conversely whether it might expose the elderly to an increased risk of physical, psychological or social frailty.
