Our panel is dedicated to the representation of the sea in visual arts: Paolo Campione introduces the issue by reasoning on the long-term relationship between seascape and figurative arts. Laura Busetta discusses the special relationship between cinema and the seascape, with particular reference to Italy. Federico Vitella presents L’avventura (1960) by Michelangelo Antonioni, one of the most important Italian films shot in Sicily, as an anti/meta travel-film.
