TWO EXPERIMENTS WITH FLUIDS : A REVERSIBLE MIXTURE AND FORCING THE BREEZE
The objective is to present two experiments with fluids that “marvel” the crowd and lead them to want to understand the experiments. What is deforming a fluid and what is viscosity (first experiment), and what is convection and how the sea breeze is formed (second experiment). Two experiments will be presented: mixing and reversibility in laminar and turbulent Taylor-Couette flows; and sea breeze formation in a small-scale model of land surrounded by water, where convection produces at low altitude the entrance of air from the water to the earth when the latter is heated more than the first and recirculation at higher altitude.
