Physics of granular matter
Sand, powder, and dust are in our everyday lives. Matter is often fragmented, cut into grains. These grains come together, form sand castles, piles on building sites, jam in salt shakers, mix in the kitchen or in pharmacies. In this workshop, we’ll take a closer look at some of the universal properties of these grains, properties often so familiar that their importance in physics has long gone unnoticed.
