Climate change and the undermining of the five freedoms for animal welfare

Animals must be able to live in a state of welfare. This can be guaranteed through respect for the 5 freedoms: 1) freedom from hunger, thirst, and bad nutrition; 2) freedom from environmental nuisances; 3) freedom from disease, injury and pain; 4) freedom to be able to demonstrate the normal behaviour of the species; 5) freedom from fear and stress.

There is general consensus on global climate change, which will affect the behaviour and welfare of animals, through multiple consequences that could compromise the five freedoms. What can we do for animals and how?
