Understanding science, the research process, and patients’ rights is key to making informed decisions when participating in clinical trials and managing their disease, yet these topics can often feel complex or distant. The Health and Research game helped make them accessible in a dynamic and interactive way.
With different question categories, the game encouraged participants to explore scientific principles, clinical research, and their own medical condition. Its flexibility allowed for the integration of a section specifically focused on congenital cardiopathies, giving players the opportunity to learn more about their disease in an engaging format. The session also tackled physical activity restrictions, a subject that can be difficult for young patients to navigate. Through the game, they gained insights into the scientific reasons why certain limitations exist, why stopping exercise entirely is counterproductive, and how adapted physical activity can benefit them.
The activity was well received, with participants enjoying the challenge, exchanging ideas, and reflecting on their own experiences. By transforming complex medical and scientific topics into an accessible game, Health and Research once again proved to be an effective tool for science literacy, patient education, and empowerment. Importantly, it implements trust in research.

Understanding Through Play: The MEDNIGHT game Health and Research empowers young patients with congenital cardiopathies to explore their condition, grasp the value of adapted physical activity, and build trust in science—all through an engaging, interactive experience.
