Doctora en Biotecnología de Alimentos, Ana Costa es la primera mujer decana de la Universidad de Évora (Portugal) y presidenta de MetaRed Portugal. MetaRed es un proyecto colaborativo que conforma una red de redes de responsables de Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TICs) de IES Iberoamericanas.

Costa está comprometida con la difusión de la ciencia, y escribe regularmente para el diario Público . Entre sus principios, la Profesora Costa sostiene que “es necesario pasar de una sociedad 4.0, en la que estamos, a una sociedad 5.0, en la que centremos las políticas y decisiones en la búsqueda del bienestar de la sociedad”.
