The gastropod mollusc Haliotis tuberculata, an endemic species of the Mediterranean Sea, today represents an innovative species of great interest for the aquaculture sector. The abalone is considered an important marine resource that, could quickly become depleted if not properly managed. In the aquaculture sector this mollusc is a valuable and highly regarded resource, being a product with high economic value and a source of functional biomolecules highly demanded in international markets.
