From Excavation to Virtual Reality: An Interactive Archaeological Experience

From Excavation to Virtual Reality: An Interactive Archaeological Experience

The program invites children to a 60-minute interactive experience designed for groups of up to 10 participants. It begins with a hands-on excavation of small artifacts in the outdoor space of the Athena Research Center, where participants will discover, clean, document, and photograph their finds, including new items related to cryptography. Next, the artifacts are transferred to the Archaeometry laboratories for microscopic study, surface composition measurements, and dating. Data is recorded for future analysis and online publication. Finally, the artifacts are taken to the digitization lab for 3D scanning, with the final results available for demonstration on computer and 3D printed formats. Each stage of the program is designed to engage young minds in the fascinating world of archaeology and technology!
