Cultural, historical, religious heritage and tourist declination of the Mediterranean cities
One of the future challenges of Mediterranean cities certainly includes making their cultural, historical and religious heritage more usable and inclusive, promoting the values of eco-sustainability and solidarity.
In this perspective and with the involvement of the hiking association “Camminare I Peloritani”, the proposed initiative consists of a sensory journey – specifically adapted to the needs of visually impaired and blind people – which winds through the main monuments of Messina.
The narrative moments will alternate with the “tactile” visit of the bust of the Lacoon, the bronze panels of the Cathedral Portal, the statue of John of Austria and the ancient columns of the Catalani Church, an expression of Sicilian-Norman art in which Byzantine, Romanesque, Arabic and Gothic styles.
