TELL ME WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING AT THE SEA
The Pedagogical Department of Elementary Education of the University of the Aegean carried out a ground-breaking project, focusing on marine sustainability as part of the wider program “Learning for Blue Development”, an initiative of Hellenic Hull in collaboration with the University of the Aegean (represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Science Administration of the University of the Aegean, Ms. Lekakos and the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Mr. Sofos) and HELMEPA. The program was attended online by Primary Schools of the Aegean and Ionian seas. The classes took place at the Future Lab of Rhodes on four Thursdays on 4/4, 11/4, 18/4 and 25/4. Assistant Professor Ms. was responsible for planning and implementing the program. Ifigenia Iliopoulou. The design of the program was based on the principles of the Storyline pedagogical approach. The title of the meetings, which took the form of an experiential workshop, was “Tell me who you are and what you do at sea”. The aim of the specific program was for the children, through their active participation, to raise awareness about marine pollution and to enrich their knowledge of professions that are directly or indirectly connected to the sea and fall into the following areas of marine sustainability:
Coastal tourism
Fish farms
Ocean energy
Marine biotechnology
Shipbuilding and ship maintenance
Fishing
Maritime transport
