The Therapeutic Potential of Black Soldier Fly Protein Hydrolysate: Mitigating Oxidative Stress and Inflammatory Response

The bioconverter insect Hermetia illucens, known as the black soldier fly (BSF), is a new potential sustainable source of molecules such as bioactive proteins and lipids. Through in vitro studies, we have explored the impact of black soldier fly protein hydrolysate (BPH) on induced inflammatory response and oxidative stress. The results demonstrate that BPH significantly reduces oxidative stress and inflammatory responses, highlighting its therapeutic potential. BPH decreases the production of ROS and nitrites, increases the expression of antioxidant genes, and reduces inflammatory mediators. These antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects suggest promising applications for BPH in various contexts of inflammatory conditions.
