PhD in Food Biotechnology, Ana Costa is the first woman dean of the University of Évora (Portugal) and president of MetaRed Portugal. MetaRed is a collaborative project that forms a network of networks of heads of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) of Ibero-American HEIs.

Costa is committed to the dissemination of science, and writes regularly for the daily newspaper Público . Among her principles, Professor Costa argues that “it is necessary to move from a 4.0 society, in which we are, to a 5.0 society, in which we focus policies and decisions on the pursuit of the welfare of society”.
