An animal may be able to maintain its body temperature even when the outside temperature is very different. Non-human animals have a different body temperature than ours and can feel hot or cold at the same time we don’t feel hot or cold. Animals use two methods to maintain body temperature: physiological (shivering, sweat…) and behavioural (perching, seeking shade). These methods will be described in some breeding species and in dog… for dog a discussion on the different breed must be made! A workshop will be organized where children will have practical experiences.
