The “Fish Odor Syndrome” and the retinal dystrophies are rare genetic diseases, research object of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory of the University of Messina. For several years now, the laboratory aims to understand the genetic-molecular mechanisms and to contribute in this way to the early diagnosis of these diseases (http://portale.unime.it/tmau-messina/contatti/ ). How many know these diseases and know about the serious repercussions that they have on quality of life of those affected? Through a sensory experience, it will attempt to raise public awareness in order to increase knowledge about these diseases, ensuring that the symptoms are recognized as soon as possible so that patients are not forced to undertake a diagnostic process that sometimes can last for many years.
