“PLANTS WITH A HISTORY”: A BOTANICAL TOUR OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ALICANTE CAMPUS

A botanical tour of the UA’s San Vicente del Raspeig campus that will give us the chance to discover some of the plant species found in its gardens. These plants will take us on a journey through history, focusing on certain events in which they played a part either as protagonists or as onlookers. Species commonly found in the Mediterranean area, such as the laurel (Laurus nobilis), the olive (Olea europaea), the oleander (Nerium oleander), the carob (Ceratonia siliqua) or the papyrus (Cyperus papyrus), and even some other plants of Asian origin we have adopted almost as if they were Mediterranean, like the bitter orange tree (Citrus × aurantium). Plants that will tell us their story through the lecturers and researchers from the UA Research Group in Botany and Plant Conservation.
