Pediatric surgical andrological prevention
Pediatric surgical andrology, part of Pediatric Surgery, deals with the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies of the male genital system. The most common pathologies include: Cryptorchidism, failure of one or both testicles to descend into the scrotum; Inguinal hernia: Protrusion of an intestinal loop due to failure to close the peritoneal-vaginal duct; Varicocele: Dilation of the veins of the testicle, can influence future fertility; Phimosis: Inability to retract the foreskin on the glans; Hypospadias: congenital malformation of the penis with abnormal opening of the external urethral meatus and “fan-shaped” preputial skin.
The objective of our action is to provide specialist information, also with the use of videos projected on site, with the aim of raising parents’ awareness of the importance of prevention with an early diagnosis of pathologies and correct timing of treatment in order to guarantee sexual and reproductive health for today’s child and tomorrow’s adult. Furthermore, correct information can reduce anxiety and improve parental collaboration during the diagnostic and therapeutic process.
