Growing old on the beach for the well-being of the elderly between sun and sea
The beach is a place of social aggregation that allows the performance of recreational activities that are very stimulating on a cognitive-motor level. Social connection, photoexposure, swimming and/or aquatic gymnastics represent opportunities for intervention on the psychophysical well-being of the elderly person. Frail elderly people or those with cognitive decline may find themselves forced to live old age confined to their homes, far from the sea that they have experienced in the summer seasons of their entire lives. Our project is intended as an intervention on the elderly population (from the “fit” elderly to the frail elderly with dementia) to continue to frequent the beach and age while preserving their psycho-physical health.
